Well a lot has happened since our last post. We have chosen not to post the details until we made our blog private (so that the entire world would not know when we were heading to China). Below is a recap of what has been going on with the adoption...
Wednesday, June 10th - We received a phone call around 12:45 pm that we were just granted travel approval!!! We were getting a little nervous since we knew the consulate office was being moved to a new location in July. If we did not get a consulate date by July 9...we would have to wait until the end of July to travel.
Thursday, June 11th - 9:30 AM we received our consulate date and approval to travel...in 9 day!!! Yes...9 days!!! Usually there is at least a two week heads-up. The great news is that they told us that we officially had the shortest China adoption trip possible...just 10 days. This my friends is an answered prayer!!!
Friday, June 12th - I was on the phone with our travel center booking our very short notice flight to China. Not to go into details...the flight arrangements have been by far the MOST stressful part of our adoption journey so far (except for maybe the 22+ adoption fundraisers). But...we are booked. The great thing is that we only have a 2 1/2 hour layover at each location!!!
So let the packing...shopping...more packing...more shopping...and paperwork organization begin!!!!
Monday, June 22nd - Our dear friends Mike and Lisa Herman organized a "send-off and pray-over the Taylor's" time at their home. It was a great time of socializing, encouragement, and prayer!!
Tuesday, June 23rd - An article that I was asked to write regarding adoption was published in the Gallatin Life Magazine. It was a four page article with pictures from our adoption concert.
So here we are...one day before flying out to China. There are so many emotions going through us right now it is impossible to describe. We are blessed...thankful...nervous...excited...sad to leave our Cohen for ten days...curious to how Melanie will take to us...and of course some serious travel anxiety!!!
Please pray for our China adventure that we have been praying about and planning for almost two years (exactly 22 months). Below are some details of our schedule...
Sat., June 22nd - Fly out of Nashville
Sun., June 23rd - Fly into Nanjing, China
Mon., June 24th - 2:30 pm (2:30 AM Tennessee time) - we get Melanie!!!
Many days of paperwork and adoption requirements
Wed., July 3rd - 9:25 PM we land in Nashville
We would love to see a many smiling faces and friends when we land!!! But first things first...I will have to hug and kiss my Cohen.
Thank you for your prayers...your encouragement. God has been our Jehovah Jirah through the entire process. He gets all the glory!!!
We will keep you posted on updates through this blog. PLEASE do not post on facebook that we are in China. We do not want that public for the entire world to see. Our house is being taken care of while we are gone and some family will be staying there while we are on our trip.

ReplyDeleteJason and Karla are not able to post to their blog as they had intended to do. They are doing well and every thing is going as scheduled so far. Keep praying for these last few days and for their travels home.
